Here you will need an extra item... a tooth pick!
Go into sneak mode and have your tooth pick ready, start sneaking up against a wall and while holding up insert the tooth pick into your controller to hold up the toggle.
This may take a while so just watch TV for a few hours!
Later, take out the tooth pick (this shouldn't damage your controller) you will either find the screen saying that you have trained so much that you have gone up a skill level (apprentice, journeyman, etc...)
You can also use this trick walking normally to raise your athletics!
