This isn't really a cheat, more of a glitch.

First find a fast horse or some speed enhanced armor.

Next follow Ma'iq the liar around.

Eventually he'll be attacked by a bandit on the road.


Important: DO NOT LET THE BANDIT SEE YOU FIRST! Once the bandit starts chasing Ma'iq follow them.

Eventually Ma'iq will lose the bandit. The bandit will "lose" Ma'iq, and start walking around with his/her weapon drawn.

Now walk up to the bandit with your weapon sheathed and you can initiate conversation. You can try the same thing by replacing Ma'iq with a deer or breton courier, but it doesn't work as well since Ma'iq can outrun anyone.

Finally, if you have 100% chameleon, there's another way.

Go into any bandit cave and just start spamming the a button when your cursor is over a bandit. There is a small chance the bandit will draw his or her weapon and start looking for you.

When the bandit stops running and starts walking around in circles, talk to him/her. They will respond.

However, be warned that if you find your bandit buddy in a cave, they will disappear after a few days.

Also, never bring a horse near a "friendly bandit".

The same thing works with marauders, but marauders are only found in or near caves... so you'll lose your buddy fast. Good luck!
