In the beginning of the game, when the Emperor gets slain, if you get the guard to face the Emperor's body, go out of the passage to the right.
Hang another right, and open the gate that was closed from before.
Go in sneak mode, and walk around behind the guard for the sneak ability to increase.
If you go into the passageway leading to him, sometimes he turns around, so just stay out of the passage.
