Sony Doesn’t Want PS4 Launched Significantly After Next Xbox/Wii U

What are the major reasons that Xbox has won this generation of the console war with Playstation? You might think that the Xbox 360 simply offers more possibilities and features, or that its games are better. However, one factor that has undoubtedly influenced the competitiveness of the Xbox 360 versus the Playstation 3 has been the fact the later was released a whole year later.PS3 vs Xbox 360

Well, Sony know this too and while speaking to EuroGamer, SCEE chief Jim Ryan told them, “I think we would consider it undesirable to be significantly later than the competition [with the next PlayStation].” Interesting in that Ryan says “significantly later”, as if they could still be slightly later. To be honest, after seeing the advantage Microsoft obtained by releasing the Xbox 360 so far ahead of the PS3, I thought Sony would be gunning to be first out of the blocks this time around. On the other hand, clearly Nintendo’s Wii U has beaten them both, and maybe Ryan is simply referring to that?

Ryan also told EuroGamer, “There’s still a lot of unfinished business on PS3,” but with rumors swirling around when Microsoft plan on releasing the Xbox 720/Loop/Ten (and dates ranging from 2012 to 2014), you would think Sony want to get started on business for the PS4 sooner rather than later.
