More Than 3.4 Million Copies of Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Sold

Bethesda has released some extremely impressive sales figures for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, figures that are all the more incredible given the game is an RPG, a genre that does not typically have the mass appeal of other types of games such as shooters.

A total of 3.4 million copies of Skyrim were sold in just its first two days of release and this figure does not include digital sales. By way of comparison, this is over 5x the number of sales that Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion managed to rack up in its first couple days of release. Out of the 3.4 million units sold, 59% were for the Xbox 360, 27% for the PS3 and the remaining 14% were for PC.

All this means that Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is a worthy match for Battlefield 3 in the popularity stakes, although it will not manage to encroach on Modern Warfare 3′s standing as the most popular title this year.
