Slice Up Cyborgs in Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance this February

With the Ninja Gaiden franchise losing its way after Tomonobu Itagaki left Team Ninja, the action hack ‘n slash genre is in dire need of a replacement. Fortunately, the upcoming Metal Gears Rising: Revengeance from Bayonetta developer, Platinum Games is prepared to fill the gap with stylish cyborg ninja combat. After making an appearance at Gamescom 2012, the talented developer showed off a sorta-kinda new trailer with a release date on the tail end of it. Aspiring ninjas looking to strut their virtual stuff will have a chance to slice and dice their opponents on February 19th, 2013. Have a look at the new trailer after the jump.

If you haven’t been keeping tabs on Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, you’d be forgiven. The spin-off title didn’t look particularly promising in its earlier forms, but Platinum Games and Hideo Kojima have since taken the Blade Mode mechanic to all-new levels. The mode is showcased in fine form in the Gamescom trailer, and the extent to which Raiden’s blade will be able to decimate his foes and the environment around him is pretty  incredible. As if cutting a cyborg baddie into itty bitty pieces wasn’t enough, Raiden will be able to level buildings and slice up helicopters in Revengeance’s Blade Mode. Although some may still be skeptical of the game’s appearance, those who are familiar with Kojima and Platinum Games’ work should be more than stoked for the upcoming action game. Keep your eyes on this one.
