Xbox Live Update Beta Opens

Major Nelson has announced that Xbox 360 Public Beta sign ups for the 2013 Xbox Live Update have opened. The update is meant to “improve overall performance” and appears to also convert your Microsoft Points balance into local currency, which is then used to make purchases from the Marketplace (Microsoft previously flagged this change in the lead up to the Xbox One launch).

Note that spots in the beta program are limited, so if you want to participate you need to register ASAP. This year sign up is directly through your Xbox 360 dashboard. Simply look for the Xbox Beta Program tile on the home hub of your dashboard (if it isn’t there, restart your console or refresh the dashboard (hit the Guide button, then RT + Y).

You’ll also need to agree to a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) in order to participate. Check out the full Beta FAQ here for more information (link to go live shortly).
