By now you’ve probably heard numerous reports of Modern Warfare 3, and to a lesser extent Battlefield 3, breaking sales records and selling millions and millions of copies. It was only a matter of time before those behind The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim started blowing their trumpets and today Zenimax (Bethesda’s parent company) announced that over 10 million copies of the game have been shipped out to retailers since its release. In addition, Zenimax also said that Skyrim on PC outsold all other PC games in North America by a factor of three to one in the month since its release.
With Skyrim picking up Game of the Year at the Video Game Awards, being called the most played game of 2011 by Raptr and winning a host of other awards and titles, breaking the 10 million mark probably doesn’t come as a surprise to most. Add in patch 1.3 now being available to everyone (at least on Xbox 360 and PC) and this has been a good day for Skyrim fans.
