Modern Warfare 3 Dev Takes to Twitter for Support

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 BoxartBy now you probably know about the massive disconnect between game critic’s views on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and those of the game players.  In fact, our own news story on the subject has attracted several comments from gamers saying how disappointed they are with the title:

Really REALLY disapointed in this game, my fault I know for buying into the hype, but still.

Absolutley horrible game so complicated and no skill the guns seem so unrealistic maps suck they are not open at all.

This isn’t anything like Modern Warfare 2. Modern Warfare 2 will always be the best and black ops will always suck and Modern Warfare 3 turn out just the same.

Since the time of our original article, user’s scores on MetaCritic have increased by 1% to a slighly more favorable 2.8/10. The number of gamers that have offered their opinion on the title has also increased from 731 to 1,607.  These figures relate to the Xbox 360 version of the game by the way.

Apparently all this spurred Glen Schofield, co-founder of Sledgehammer Games, to try and drum up some support for Modern Warfare 3 on Twitter .  I say “apparently” because the relevant tweet has now been deleted (although several tweets that look like they relate to the deleted comment are visible).  According to IGN, Schofield tweeted the following:

I don’t usually do this but, if u like MW3 go 2 & help our user score. It’s suspiciously low. Be honest but help if u agree.

The difference between the critics and the gamers does seem a little crazy and probably doesn’t give a fair view.  I mean a 2.8/10 rating from 1,607 people is so bad that something has to be suspect right?  But what do you think, is there some sort of negative campaign against MW3, or are the haters just a lot more vocal than the fans?

“But what do you think, is there some sort of negahive campaign against MW3, or are the haters just a lot more vocal than the fans?”

I can only speak for myself and a few of my freinds that have had this disscusion, I dont belive there’s a negative campaign against MW3, or at least there wasnt untill people actually played it, I tried not to be too harch in my first comments about the game but I had to be honest, and if that was harsh, then its the game that has lead me to say those things.
Instead of spending so much money on “Spoofs” with hollywood actors, adverts on every channel and getting naming rights for the Jeep ect, they shouldve spent more time on the game, especailly multiplayer, I cant put my finger on it but its not right, its not fun and it certainly isnt clever0
As for haters being louder than fans, I think if you like the game you shouldnt care what people say so I’d say all the fans are too busy playing to say anything, and good luck to them :D, I just wont be joining them, unless they fancy Special Ops

Fair play, as long as people are being honest… and I guess that maybe people are so peeved off and disappointed with the title that they need to vent somehow, and that could explain the masses of people flocking to MetaCritic to give the game a low rating.
