Activision has released its earnings report for 2011 and some of the numbers coming out of it are pretty impressive. There are currently over 40 million active users that play at least one of the Call of Duty franchise games on a monthly, basis with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 gamers making up roughly half that number (20 million). Black Ops is also still pretty popular with 10 million playing that title on a monthly basis.
Call of Duty: Elite is also doing incredibly well and has more than 7 million people signed up, 1.5 million of them being paying members. 1,500,000 x $49.99 means Activision are pulling in around $75 million each year thanks to the service. Whichever way you cut it that is a significant amount of money and points to Activision doing all they can to extract maximum value from the franchise.
