In an unexpected turn of events, Epic has announced that a new title in the popular Gears of War franchise will be appearing at this year’s E3. Accompanying the announcement was a new teaser image featuring a figure shrouded in shadow and bound in handcuffs, escorted by two COG soldiers into a prison of sorts. As is the nature of the Internet, speculation began to run wild as rumors of a prequel ran rampant across the web.
Today, IGN released fresh details on this image, while releasing two more, this time, without the mystery. As it turns out, Baird and Cole have been arrested for treason, alongside Kilo Squad teammates Garron and Sofia. The new game, which has been confirmed to be a prequel, is called Gears of War: Judgment, and is rumored to be in development under Bulletstorm devs, People Can Fly.
We expect to hear more about the next Gears of War title, including a trailer, at Microsoft’s press conference at this year’s E3.
