While most typical assassin-y work is performed on good ol’ fashioned land, sometimes, you just gotta take it to the sea. In this Gamescom 2012 trailer from Ubisoft, Assassin’s Creed 3 takes protagonist Connor and puts him in the shoes of a naval commander in the Revolutionary War. Although you probably won’t be doing much sneaking while shooting cannonballs at other ships amidst the raging tides of the ocean, the naval warfare of Assassin’s Creed 3 looks to be quite developed and just as engaging and immersive as the rest of the triple-A experience. Take a look at the Gamescom trailer after the jump.
The Assassin’s Creed franchise has become known for injecting other genres into its games to break up the pattern of assassin activity, and thus far, each has added an interesting and enjoyable experience to complement the bulk of the title. Naval warfare looks to be a much more developed element than ever seen before, however, and based on the enormous amount of detail in the trailer, it seems that this particular element of Assassin’s Creed 3 will be fairly substantial. While it’s uncertain whether or not the naval warfare is a part of the core narrative or simply an added component of the game, it’s quite evident that naval warfare will be something most players will be doing for at least a couple of hours during the course of their AC3 playthrough. More content is always a good thing, in our eyes.
