Cheat:
For this you will need a piston, a lever, some red stone, and a glowstone.

Dig a hole, 3 blocks long, 2 blocks deep.

Then place the piston inside on one of the sides, then put the glow stone on the piston.

This should leave you with one spot to stand in.

Set the lever where you can hit it from inside the hole.

Run red stone from the piston to the lever.

Jump in the hole and flip the lever.

This can be done in creative and survival.
