This is not a cheat, but a nice little trick to play on your foes.
Maps where there are few paths and or high cliffs is what you need. Send a builder to that spot and build a watch tower. N
ext, garison it with Ranger Class Archers (Men of Dale, Ithilian Rangers, the Elven Equivilent). These units, from here will have about the same range as Seige units.
Upgrading them with arrows and banner carriers is a good idea as this will grant added range and damage.
Finally, for those who are money hungry (Which you will be after all of that spending and upgrading), a hero in the Men Race, indicated by a blue banner and white tree, there is a hero that grants nearby allies resources with each hit. He does not have to be in the tower with the units, just near it.
Also available is the Fortress Hall and equivalent structures. But with three opposed to two. That's 30 arrows with fire that can hit at the range of a catapult or trubuchet.
Another little trick with the Dwarves is to build a fortress in the middle of a chokepoint and build wall hubs in the middle of it. The door should face away from the enemy.
Then use the halls toward the enemy. So that's roughly 60 arrows that have the potentual to kill a swordsmen with one shot and have the range of a Seige weapon.
Then once in place, build the walls across the chokepoint. Then add what defences you may like.
Just besure to add a stealth gate to reinforce the hall if they get over run. Only level 4s can out range the best tech.
The AI is dumb so you may have to target further targets for them. They will fire eventually, might hurt a tad, but it will work. T
The only time this failed is when an earthquake occurred that demolished the halls, followed by Angry Horsemen.
