Instead of buying loads of good players and wasting money in Manager Mode, just go into team management and transfer all the players you want into the team you will be in Manager Mode for free and the players should be there when you start.

You may need to transfer some players from your team to a different team, I just transfer some of the worse players of my team to some league 2 team.
